Founding meeting of Swiss Local Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), 1984.

The Swiss Local Section of AlHA, organized on October 24, 1983, held its first meeting on April 6, 1984.
Founders were Daniel Bauer, David M. Bernstein, Pierre Cuendet, Pierre O. Droz, Michel P. Guillemin, and Berenice Goelzer: At its first meeting in 1984, Gene Kortsha, then president of AIHA, was guest speaker. The section grew from eight members at its first meeting to 75 members in 1990. As the Swiss Local Section grew, a decision was made to change the name of the group to Swiss Occupational Hygienists and to have it stand alone, rather than as a local section of AIHA.
