SUMMARY:AIHA Derivation of Occupational Exposure Limits virtual course
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe AIHA Guideline Foun
dation and Foundation for Chemistry Research and Initiatives invite you to
a free virtual course on occupational exposure limit derivation.\n\n\n\n\
n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExplore the science and best practices behind d
eveloping occupational exposure limits. The course will examine how scient
ific evidence is evaluated and integrated to create health-based exposure
recommendations.\nTopics Include:\n\n Scientific principles of OEL deriva
tion\n Evaluation and integration of evidence\n Uncertainties\, assumpti
ons\, and professional judgment\n Strengths and limitations of available
data\n Translating scientific findings into exposure limits\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTh
is intermediate-to-advanced course is intended for occupational health\, t
oxicology\, and product stewardship professionals. Participants can earn 2
 .5 contact hours.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\
 n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration is required. Experts from
the AIHA Guideline Foundation OEL Committee will lead the course.\n\n\n\n\
n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Aims: The course is is being off
ered as part of AIHA GF OEL Committee mission to increase knowledge of the
basis for and interpretation of OELs. The intended participants are occup
ational health\, toxicology\, and product stewardship professionals who ha
ve responsibility for OEL derivation\, review\, selection\, and implementa
tion. The content is planned for intermediate to advanced practive level.
Session 1: Derivation of Occupational Exposure Limits Thursday October 29\
, 1:00 to 4:00 PM ET Course Description: This course provides an overview
of current science and best practices in the derivation of occupational ex
posure limits (OELs). The course explores how diverse lines of scientific
evidence are evaluated and integrated within risk assessment frameworks to
develop health-based exposure recommendations. Emphasis is placed on the
 scientific principles\, uncertainties\, assumptions\, and professional jud
gments that underpin modern OEL derivation. The course also examines the s
trengths and limitations of available data and the approaches used to tran
slate scientific findings into health-based exposure limits. Session 2: Se
lection and Application of Occupational Exposure Limits Thursday November
12\, 1:00 to 4:00 PM ET Course Description: This course provides an overvi
ew of current practices in the selection and application of occupational e
xposure limits (OELs). The course explores how OELs are evaluated and inte
grated within occupational health risk assessment frameworks to support wo
rkplace exposure assessment and risk management decisions. Emphasis is pla
ced on the practical considerations\, uncertainties\, assumptions\, and pr
ofessional judgments that influence OEL selection and use. The course also
examines the interpretation and application of OELs in complex occupation
al exposure scenarios\, including chemical mixtures\, non-routine exposure
  conditions\, biological monitoring\, multi-route exposures\, hazard notat
ions\, and aggregate or cumulative exposures.
